Want to advertise this opportunity. Program for our junior students.

SUBJECT:

2022-2023 Sunshine State Scholars Recognition Program

We are pleased to announce that the Sunshine State Scholars Program, recognizing exemplary mathematics and science high school students in Florida, is supported again during the 2021-2022 school year, with support from the Florida Education Foundation. Our school district has been asked to select two District Scholars and one alternate for this year’s program; consequently, we need your assistance.

Any high school wishing to participate should select one junior from their school who has an interest in pursuing postsecondary education opportunities in Florida and has a strong background in STEM. Schools may use their own selection process when choosing their school representative, however, the student must be in his or her Junior Year meeting the minimum criteria outlined below.

·         The student has achieved Junior class status and has an interest in STEM while pursuing postsecondary educational opportunities in Florida.

·         The student has a weighted Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.9 or higher.

·         Based upon information available now the student should qualify for the Florida

Academic Scholars Award according to the current guidelines established for the Florida Bright

Futures Scholarship Program http://www.floridastudentfinancialaid.org/SSFAD/bf/bfmain.htm.

  • The student must have documentation on file to support a minimum of 25 hours of approved community service and must be on track to complete 100 hours required by the Florida Academic Scholars Award in Bright Futures.

Once the student has been identified, the student must complete the attached application form and submit it to the District Science Office at Brewster, no later than 5:00 PM on December 9,2022
