Cyber Security Team

The VCS Cyber Security Team acts as the district's digital defense system. They work to keep student information, staff data, and the entire school network safe from cyberattacks.

  • Protects against online threats: This includes things like malware (viruses and spyware), phishing attacks (emails trying to steal passwords), and hackers trying to break into the system.
  • Secures school devices and data: The team makes sure laptops, tablets, and phones used in schools are secure and that student information like grades and health records are encrypted (scrambled) so even if accessed, it can't be understood.
  • Informing staff and students: They provide information to everyone about cyber safety habits like creating strong passwords and being careful about what information they share online.
  • Emergency plans to keep schools functioning: Cyberattacks can disrupt school operations, like online learning platforms or administrative systems.
  • Developing safe digital citizens: Good cyber habits learned in school will stay with students throughout their lives, protecting them online in their future careers and personal lives.

By working together with other district divisions and schools, the cyber security team helps create a safe and secure digital learning environment for all.
