We post scholarships that we have been notified about.  We suggest that you conduct research to identify additional scholarship opportunities.

Daytona Beach News Journal Medallion of Excellence

The Medallion of Excellence application process has closed. Check back next December for 2020-2021 information. Below you will find important information that you can use as a guide. New this year! – the application process is now in a digital format. Please find attached key dates that will guide you through the process and the application flyer that you can share with your students.

The 2021 Medallion of Excellence Awards event will celebrate the achievements of up to 40 Volusia and Flagler high school seniors, in schools with more than 25 students in the graduating class. Applicants must be high-functioning students who maintain at least a 3.5 (weighted) academic GPA and who also excel in extracurricular and community activities in areas including (but not limited to) the arts, music, sports, volunteerism/community service and leadership. 

Apply for a Medallion of Excellence

Qualified applicants may access the 2018 Application electronically between Dec. 1, 2020 – Jan.  2021  by visiting, click on Medallion logo, click on Medallion Application (top right of page).

Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship


The Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration for Florida Scholarship Committee is pleased to
announce the awarding of two (2) different Scholarships listed below:
1. DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR: (Cumulative High School GPA of 3.0 or greater)
Four (4) Scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $1,000.00 to honor the
life and legacy of the late Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The purpose of
this award is to assist recipients with expenses while attending a postsecondary
2. TRAYVON MARTIN: (Cumulative high school GPA of 2.5 - 2.9)
Two (2) Scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $750.00. The loss of
Trayvon Martin’s life was a horrific wake up call to us all. The purpose of the award
is to assist the recipient with expenses to attend a college or a career and technical
The scholarship committee will review all application information and rank applicants based
on the attached criteria. Recipients will be notified of awards by phone and mail no later
than January 12, 2021.
Due to COVID-19 at this time there will be no annual banquet or no public introductions.
Scholarship checks will be disbursed with proof of acceptance and class registration for the
Fall 2021 Term no later than September 15, 2021.
