Principal's Message
Dear T. Dewitt Taylor Families,
My name is Kathy Gibbons and I am so excited to introduce myself as the Principal of T. Dewitt Taylor Middle High School. I am honored to have been selected to be your principal. Over the last 33 years, I have been a member of the Volusia County School Community and I have worked as a teacher and administrator, but I consider my most important job to be an advocate for students. I am committed to getting to know your children, their hopes and their dreams. I hope to celebrate their successes small and large. I want Taylor Middle High School to be a place where everyone feels valued, supported and respected.
My goal is to ensure that the very talented educators at TMHS provide your children with a safe and welcoming learning environment. This has been my philosophy since I began my teaching career at Ormond Beach Middle School as a mathematics teacher. I taught at OBMS for ten years and then transferred to Atlantic High School. My first year at Atlantic I taught mathematics and then I became an administrator. After thirteen years at Atlantic I moved to Seabreeze High School and continued my work in administration. Most recently I was in a district position as the Coordinator of Master Scheduling and Class Size. I feel like my entire career has prepared me to be the principal of Taylor Middle High. I will work tirelessly to ensure that all your children have the best possible educational experience while at TMHS.
Once again, I am so thankful to have the opportunity to bring all I have experienced and learned with me to your wonderful community. I look forward to getting to know you and your children. I will be working most days this summer to ensure a smooth transition and opening in August. Please stop by and say hello.
I look forward to meeting you soon.
Warmest Regards,
Kathy Gibbons
